The Gunner Tavern adjacent to Newcastle Central station has had a full refurbishment from its previous appearance, transforming the venue from a dim and unkempt bar into a lively and diverse space, blending an elevated industrial charm with classic pub-style aesthetics. Our aim was to create an inclusive environment welcoming various generations. This was achieved by harmonising modern and traditional elements, resulting in a timeless design that resonates across age groups.
The use of mixed tones of wood from flooring to table tops gives the space a warmth which is complemented by green accents that add engaging elements to the overall design. Stylish touches, such as exposed brick walls, industrial-style lighting fixtures, and quirky accents add character to the space. Delicate wood carvings meticulously incorporated into the bar front and staircases contributed nuanced details, elevating the overall aesthetic of the space.
Integrating green metro tiles on both the exterior and interior created a seamless connection between the inside and outside spaces, enhancing the visual continuity. Bi-folding doors positioned at the front facilitate a smooth transition from indoors to the pavement, blurring the boundaries between the interior and exterior environments.
