The narrative behind Salt-Yard's design is to honour the rich history of London's Borough Market while infusing it with a Mediterranean charm. The rustic and stylish interior pays homage to the building's Victorian warehouse roots, with exposed brick walls and timber beams showcasing its historical significance. The open kitchen serves as the focal point, adding a theatrical element to the space and inviting patrons to experience the culinary journey firsthand. The layout is carefully crafted to promote a social ambiance, encouraging guests to gather, dine, and create memorable experiences together.
To effectively communicate this narrative, we drew inspiration from both the local heritage and the Mediterranean aesthetic, blending them seamlessly to create a unique atmosphere. The Architectural backdrop evokes a sense of nostalgia, while the carefully designed fixtures and fittings add a contemporary twist, engaging patrons in an dining experience that looks and feels first rate within a stunning, comfortable space full of charm and history.
One of the unique aspects of our design is the integration of historical elements with modern sensibilities. By preserving the building's original features, such as the exposed brick walls and timber beams. The open kitchen concept adds an innovative touch commanding the space whilst creating a dynamic, theatrical, atmosphere. The large industrial styled opening windows at the front also allow for the restaurant to spill out onto the street and into the Market. This adds a further dimension to the space bringing the atmosphere and buzz of the Borough market into the restaurant for a unique experience.
